"Early Earth Day Thoughts"
4:43am

The house is cold, I don't know why I am forsaking the warm bed. But I am wide awake. While in Old Town this past weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to see a likeness of Tutankhamun's Anubis statue:

There's also a bust of Nefertiti, and the back drop was done from Nebamun hunting, of which the original is at the British Museum

I've seen that Nefertiti before, it's been decoration for a beauty parlor that has since moved to a different location. Since 2006, Hector has added to his collection, and I appreciate the transplanted little bit of Egypt.

He also has a stylized mummy case:

Note the "cartouche":

Three wine glasses!!! Perhaps the case also serves as a wine storage case?

I was thinking earlier about Earth Day, but what thoughts I had seem to have flown. I think I'll return to the warm bed!

"Beautiful Ewer at Lacma"
12:28am

Ewer (silver, crystal, turquoise and opal)
Central Tibet, Gyantse (?), 18th century
Gift of the Ahmanson Foundation, LACMA M.75.10

I found this when copying our vacation photos from 2009 to the new computer. Is there a red eyed face in the crystal on the ewer's belly?
