I was quite amused with the depiction of Amen-Nestawy-Nakht's ba in henu pose. This detail of his 22nd Dynasty mummy case was photographed by Anneke Bart and is at the St Louis museum.
As I drew this, I couldn't help think that the flower offering for Amen-Nestawy-Nakht looked a bit like the old phonograph players, with their flower-like horns. Furthermore, to me the 'henu' pose of rejoicing has always looks a bit like dancing. Perhaps this gesture was used in religious dancing, for celebrations and the like. Having neatened up the original scan, I then played with an 8x10 format, just because I could. |
Ink pen and colored pencil on acid free paper, 17.8 x 25.3 cm (7 x 10 in.), spiral rings removed after the scan, and neatened up a bit digitally: |
