Hathor, Close-up 2025

Taking the design of the small Hathor I did in 2020 and changing the colors to suggest glowing in the dark, this one is 15.cm (6 in.) wide, on 20 count aida.

The Arc of Inspiration

Photo by William Petty from KV 57 that served as a guide for all the 2015, 2020, 2023 and 2025 pieces, (courtesy William Petty)

This is my fourth attempt of this scene from Horemheb's tomb. The first is mixed media trace print/colored pencil. The second is a small needlepoint on 18 grid aida. The third and the fourth are with cross stitch on 20 grid aida. The greater "pixel" count and greater size allows much more detail than my first attempt.

I took the scan of the original needlepoint, which was based more on the colors on the art in KV57, and recolored it, printing it out as guidance.
I realized I could have much more detail with cross stitch, than with single yarn needlepoint.

She could have more width and depth and still fit a six inch hanger.

I decided to give her a full collar...

The bottom border seems to unify the contrasting bottom...

Maybe I should have waited until I bought a matching hook to the hook that was already there, but I was too impatient ...
