{With intention of performing this ritual offering to Venus, the supplicant washes hands; dons a veil as headcovering; then faces Northeast to the Image of Venus gracing the altar; then raises hands in the "Y" position and recites these words:} Hail, Venus!, O Intercessor!, Kindly Nurturer!, Companion!, Golden One!, Lady Warrior!, Celestial One!, She of Mount Eryx!, Giver of Life!, Guide to the Departed!, Sea-Spawned!, Mirthful One!, Fulfiller of Desires!, She of the Beautiful Tresses!, Radiant Bride!, Whisperer!, She Who Turns Hearts!, Victorious One! {*A: supplicant makes Adoratio, saluting the Goddess with a kiss, while grasping the altar with the left hand ... then continues:} I am in veneration of Thee... and I am prayerfully entered into Thy Presence, {*V: supplicant touches hand to breast, while saying:} that Thou mayest grant me favor and be willingly propitious to us and to our most precious sister, Laura! As I offer to Thee by this libation: {*O: supplicant places offering of wine before Her Image, then closes with these words:} Kindly Venus! If you found anything disagreeable in the small gift offering from my part, do accept this atonement. As Thou dost will, so mote it be!

Additional notes: * The meaning of the name, Alleata, is uncertain, but I have rendered it here as "Intercessor", which is one of the attributes of Venus. * The line "Laurae sororique carissimae" was added for our Laura's memorial, held August 13, 2002, the anniversary of our union, a day sacred to Diana and following upon one of the festivals of Venus Victrix. For general purposes, this line can be omitted or another name substituted, placing it in the Latin dative case, typically ending -o (m.), -ae (f), or -i. * Incense, such as frankincense, was the original offering, but our circumstances required a substitution of wine libation. If offering incense, read the Latin words "HOC THVS" in place of "HAC LIBATIONE".
