Yet Another Ankh, This One Pink!
11:03pm

Here's the last ankh:

I like the feeling it gives, a sort of calm strength...

I thought this ankh would be the last of them, but then I glanced at the pink flowers I painted in a "Sip and Paint" held last year, and thought PINK!

I've done a pink ankh before, but that one was in tones of pink and navy.

I envisioned the new ankh to be an 180 degree color shift from the aqua ankh. But Photoshop's calculator failed:

I could see it was aiming for a cooler tone pink and green....

But in addition to the saturation level, something had gone wrong with the value, leaving scant contrast in darkness:

Grayscale of the aqua ankh is on the left...

Clearly, I was left to my own artistic eyeballs. (I remember in one of my art classes in college, we had an assignment to turn yellow and purple into the same value. I muddied the yellow and added white to the purple. The teacher liked my result and said I had a good eye.) So I played around with and got a digital approximation of what I was aiming for:

I had some dark green 14 count aida I'd bought earlier but not used, so I thought I'd see what this ankh pattern would look like in the larger grid. It turns out it will be around six inches wide, as compared to around four inches wide (4.25in) for the ankhs done in 18 count aida:

The smaller ankhs are two thirds the size of this one.
I found a six inch wide hanger similar in shape to the hangers for the smaller ankhs, except it has a heart at the top.

Soon, it will be off the hoop.

More Pink Progress!
12:14pm

Soon, it will be on the hanger and on the wall....

I think of all of these, this one is my favorite. (I've said that about each successive one.) This, in contrast to the others which were done with 18 count aida, was done with 14 count, as I had some dark green canvas I didn't use earlier. It is 14.5 cm, compared to 11cm wide.
