From Egyptian Deserts to Sonoran Deserts, Set Loudly Proclaims His Existence!
Sharpie pen on 9x12inch bristol board
Text: "I Have Come into Being", Words spoken by Set, Lord of the Deserts (Foreign Lands)

I've been inspired by an "Art-a-Week" idea at one of my favorite forums. The theme this week is "desert". I'm not the only one to feature Set and the desert! Sarduriur features a Set fierce against the demons of illness.

My Set is just howling that he exists, the sheer primal joy of existence.

The "Words Spoken by" glyphs are standard. King Sahure's wall at Abusir, now in the Berlin museum, shows the glyphs for "Lord of Desert (Foreign Lands). I admit to a "Budgism" for the "I have come into being" part, but after studying the Faulkner and other hieroglyph books, I'm pretty certain this is how it's expressed.(I know the modern disdain for anything by Budge, but not everything he did was wrong!) Faulkner shows the 'ren' glyph under the kheper scarab. Also one of the meanings of the tied scroll glyph is having to do with abstract concepts. So it would underline the idea of one being conscious of their existence.

Now to COLOR this! I'm envisioning twilight colors...
