"Yuma Lettuce Days"
6:19pm

I'd heard that Bob and Sheri were going to be at Yuma Lettuce Days, so I was especially interested in going this year, as I've enjoyed their radio program for many years.

We parked quite a way from the Quartermaster Depot, as we'd read there would be large crowds. The shuttle that was to have come to Madison Avenue never came by that way, so we hoofed it. The first thing that met my eye was a huge tractor. I'm not sure if I would have ordinarily thought it photo worthy, but the Photo Friday theme this week is "Machine", so voila!

Many booths were set up offering food. We found the kale chips especially tasty. I sampled dates and various dips. Chef Ray Duey, a vegetable carver, was especially impressive.

But where were Bob and Sheri? We walked around and around. Eventually we found the booth, and I saw a couple faces familiar from having visited their web site. A long line waited for autographs. I snapped some photos from off to the side. Later, the line was shorter. While I saw Bob and Lamar, I didn't see Sheri. When it came to my turn, I asked where Sheri was. She stayed home, as her boyfriend's mother died unexpectedly. It's very understandable that she needs to be there for him. The photo I took then didn't turn out so well, but one I took from the side did:

In addition to Bob and Lamar (who does movie reviews), Sheri's two children are in the photo
