According to Wikipedia, the Washington Monument "is both the world's tallest stone structure
and the world's tallest obelisk, standing 555 feet 5 inches (169.294 m). Actually Seattle's "Space Needle" is fifty feet taller, but the Washington Monument LOOKS taller. Also, don't forget the original obelisk. It is 'only' 69 feet, but it is hewn all of one piece of stone, rather than in bricks!

Other Contenders:

Seattle's "Space Needle"
at 605 feet (184 m)

"Cleopatra's Needle"
at 69 ft (21 meters)
